Sample VPAT / ACR

Sample Accessibility Conformance Report

Anonymized VPAT based excerpt

This sample shows how an Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) presents criterion-by-criterion ratings and explanatory remarks. It includes selected WCAG rows from a report based on VPAT Version 2.5.

Client and product identifiers have been generalized to protect confidentiality. This excerpt illustrates report structure and does not replace the complete product-specific ACR.

Product and evaluation scope

Product: Anonymized learning and assessment platform.

Coverage: Selected student-facing learning activities, question types, form fields, and results views.

Product version and assessment date: Withheld in this sample.

Notes

The assessment evaluated the selected product scope against WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA criteria. Results include Partially Supports ratings where some functionality does not meet a criterion. Most evaluated pages could be navigated using a keyboard and assistive technologies, but accessibility barriers were identified, including insufficient color contrast, missing or incorrect ARIA roles, and inconsistent status messages.

These issues can create barriers in particular scenarios even when other core functionality remains accessible, sometimes with available workarounds. The conformance tables record ratings for individual criteria, and the remarks explain the exceptions within the evaluated scope.

The results reflect a sample set of five products representing typical student interactions across different question types and form fields. Client and product identifiers are anonymized throughout this sample.

Evaluation Methods Used

The product was tested against all applicable WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA success criteria within the evaluated scope. The methodology combined automated checks with manual testing conducted through a paired testing methodology.

The assessment included the following assistive technologies, interaction checks, tools, browsers, and desktop environments:

  • Assistive technologies: NVDA, JAWS, and VoiceOver screen readers.
  • Interaction checks: keyboard-only operation and browser zoom.
  • Tools: Axe and Color Contrast Analyzer.
  • Browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
  • Desktop environments: Windows 10 and Mac.

Technology and environment combinations

  • Windows with Firefox or Chrome and NVDA.
  • Windows with Chrome and JAWS.
  • Windows with Edge and JAWS.
  • Mac with Safari and VoiceOver.
  • Windows with Chrome and Axe.
  • Windows with Google Chrome and browser zoom.
  • Windows with Google Chrome and Color Contrast Analyzer.

These combinations reflect the environments recorded for the assessment. Results relate to the evaluated product scope and version.

Applicable Standards and Guidelines

The table below records the standards coverage of the full assessment. This public sample includes selected WCAG conformance rows; the complete Section 508 and EN 301 549 tables are not reproduced.

Terms

The terms used in the Conformance Level information are defined as follows:

Supports: The functionality of the product has at least one method that meets the criterion without known defects or meets with equivalent facilitation.

Partially Supports: Some functionality of the product does not meet the criterion.

Does Not Support: The majority of product functionality does not meet the criterion.

Not Applicable: The criterion is not relevant to the product.

Not Evaluated: The product has not been evaluated against the criterion. This can only be used in WCAG Level AAA criteria.

Selected Level A criteria

The remarks identify the observed exceptions and their location within the anonymized learning activities.

Selected WCAG Level A criteria
CriteriaConformance LevelRemarks and Explanations
1.1.1 Non-text Content Level APartially SupportsText alternatives are provided for graphics, with exceptions. Descriptive alternatives are missing for graphics in Sample Module B and for graphics within a question in Sample Module C.
1.3.1 Info and Relationships Level APartially SupportsMost information and relationships are available to screen reader users. Exceptions in Sample Module A include visually presented question and part headings without heading markup, and an incorrect heading hierarchy in the results view.
4.1.2 Name, Role, Value Level APartially SupportsMost components expose names, roles, states, and values. Exceptions include an incorrect role for content in Sample Module E, insufficient names for navigation buttons in Sample Module A, and missing role or expanded/collapsed state information for interactive highlighted text.

Sample module names are anonymous references to evaluated learning activities. They are used consistently throughout this excerpt.

Selected Level AA criteria

Selected WCAG Level AA criteria

1.4.3 Contrast Minimum Level AAPartially SupportsMost text meets the applicable contrast requirement. Exceptions include the Finish control in its default and hover states, text in the results view of Sample Module A, and passage text in Sample Module E.
1.4.4 Resize Text Level AAPartially SupportsThe platform is generally readable and operable when content is enlarged. An exception occurs in Sample Module A, where the course name is truncated at 200 percent browser zoom.
1.4.11 Non-text Contrast Level AAPartially SupportsMost relevant interface elements and graphics meet the 3:1 contrast requirement. Exceptions include an input-field border, a keyboard focus indicator, and a results icon in Sample Module A, and the border of a selected button in Sample Module E.
1.4.12 Text Spacing Level AASupportsThe evaluated content supports adjustments to letter, word, line, and paragraph spacing.
2.4.7 Focus Visible Level AASupportsA visible keyboard focus indicator is provided for interactive elements in the evaluated content.

What is the difference between the two reports?

An accessibility audit report documents individual barriers, their impact on users, and recommended fixes. An Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR), prepared using a VPAT template, summarizes how the evaluated product supports individual accessibility criteria. The samples show both reporting formats.

These are selected excerpts. Client and product details have been anonymized, and the samples do not replace a complete, product-specific assessment.

Conformance documentation

Sample VPAT / Accessibility Conformance Report

A completed VPAT is an ACR. Explore the assessment notes, testing methods, assistive technology and browser combinations, standards coverage, and conformance definitions. The sample also includes eight selected WCAG Level A and AA criteria, their ratings, and remarks describing exceptions in an anonymized learning and assessment platform.

Choosing a reporting form? Read our VPAT template guide. To understand the evidence behind a rating, follow our worked example from an accessibility finding to an ACR rating.

Questions about the sample reports

Can I view the sample reports without downloading a file or providing my email?

Yes. Select either sample button to open a scrollable report window on this page. No file download, account, email, or consultation is required.

What does “Partially Supports” mean in the sample ACR?

It means some functionality in the evaluated product does not meet that criterion. The remarks identify the exceptions so readers can understand the rating in context.

What would be included in a report for my product?

Your proposal defines the product, workflows, standards, test coverage, and deliverables. The audit documents findings within that scope; an ACR, when included, records criterion-level ratings and explanatory remarks for the evaluated product version.

For more detail, read VPAT vs. accessibility audit: what each deliverable does and our evaluation and delivery process.
