The business impact of accessibility

The Hidden Costs of Digital Inaccessibility

Accessibility problems do not stay inside an accessibility budget. They can surface as lost customers, development rework, procurement delays, customer-support burden, emergency remediation, and misplaced confidence in automated results.

Lost Customers

Barriers can interrupt critical user journeys without producing a complaint.

Accessibility Debt

Repeated inaccessible patterns increase future remediation work.

Procurement Friction

Missing or outdated accessibility evidence can slow buyer review.

Development Rework

Late discoveries can force teams to revisit completed work.

Support Burden

Inaccessible self-service can move work into assisted channels.

False Confidence

Automated results alone may not reveal real-world accessibility barriers.

What your team receives

Know what failed.
Know how to fix it.

An accessibility report should tell developers where a barrier occurs, how to reproduce it, which requirement it fails, and what needs to change. Our findings connect technical criteria to the tasks people need to complete.

Our audit and remediation process
01

Defined standards and test coverage

Your proposal identifies the WCAG version, conformance level, product workflows, and any additional Section 508 requirements.

02

Detailed accessibility findings

Reports include issue locations, reproduction steps, user impact, and remediation recommendations.

03

Verification after remediation

Retesting checks the agreed fixes and records which issues are resolved or still need work.

Accessibility questions

Digital accessibility FAQs.

Where should we start if we do not know our accessibility gaps?

Start by identifying the website, product, or documents people need to use and the requirements your organization must address. A WCAG accessibility audit can establish findings for an agreed scope. If you already have a report, begin with its coverage, age, and unresolved issues. The next step should answer a specific need, whether that is finding barriers, fixing them, or preparing customer documentation.

How do WCAG, the ADA, and Section 508 fit together?

WCAG provides technical criteria for accessible content. The ADA is a civil rights law with accessibility obligations; Section 508 addresses federal information and communication technology. They are related, but the names are not interchangeable. The right testing and reporting scope depends on your product and requirements. Our accessibility glossary explains the terms used in audits and procurement reviews.

A customer asked for a VPAT. What should we do first?

Ask which product, standards, and reporting edition the customer needs, then gather any existing accessibility reports and product information. A completed VPAT is usually called an Accessibility Conformance Report, or ACR. CompliCorp's VPAT and ACR services combine evaluation with reporting so the response describes the product's actual accessibility, including known limitations.

Can accessibility software handle all the testing and fixes?

Software can help detect errors and automate parts of the work, but it cannot establish accessibility on its own. People still need to evaluate meaning, interaction, and whether a task can be completed. Fixes also need verification in the actual product. Read our comparison of manual and automated accessibility testing to understand what each method contributes.

Can CompliCorp support us after the initial assessment?

Yes. Follow-up work can include remediation guidance and retesting, document remediation, training, and ACR updates. We define the work around your findings and the teams responsible for changes. Each engagement identifies its deliverables and coverage, so ongoing support is based on a clear plan rather than an assumption that the initial audit includes every later task.

What information do you need to quote an accessibility project?

Send the website or product details, important workflows, existing reports, required standards, and deadline. For document work, include representative files and total volume. A buyer's questionnaire or request is useful when procurement is driving the project. You can send project details before a consultation so we can discuss scope, responsibilities, and the evidence you need.
